There was a new Vance and Hines power plant in the Tonglet family Suzuki Friday and it showed its potential in the second session after Gary Tonglet tuned it up for LE, his youngest son.
LE proceeded to cover the quarter-mile in 6.907 seconds at 191.62 mph to jump from seventh to third.
“We had a few problems on the first run,” Tonglet said. “The tune-up was fat, so my dad leaned it out. We had a quick 60-foot time on our last lap, so no we’ll work on the back half. It will be okay. It takes a few runs for the new crankshaft to loosen up.”
Tonglet brought a three-race win streak to Maple Grove. He is 44 points behind the series leader.
