Fresh off the stunning debut of the Playthings Racing, Exoticycle prepped GSXR 1000 Turbo in Valdosta a month ago, Nick and Johnny are ready for Round 2 in Atlanta, but Atlanta is not ready for AMA Dragbike, rain Saturday and Sunday along with a track that was not right on the back half meant that Sunday would be a very busy day for the Sarasota based team. AMA Dragbike change in Super Street rules meant we had to add almost 30lbs to the light weight bike. The track was not safe for a full pass so the choice was made by AMA to run only 1/8 mile, wise choice, no one wanted to see anyone get hurt. We are sure glad to be running the Michelin tires with full backing sponsorship from Richie’s Tires, they stick like glue on any track.
Sunday Nick goes out and run qualifies number 1, he shows that he is no flash in the pan. This was very important for points and also the first time Nick earned the number 1 spot. Eliminations started hours after, Nick had a first round bye. 2nd round Nick takes a easy win over Stewart Hamby. It was getting very late, so AMA decided to conclude the Atlanta event in Bristol , TN , which is 2 races away.
The team did a great job on a very long weekend , with lots of waiting around, the GSXR 1000 is a great motorcycle, it has proven in roadracing to be the bike to have, Playthings Racing owning, and with Exoticycle’s Johnny Turbo building awesome machines we will prove it’s the bike to have in Dragracing as well.
On a side not in Real Street the Exoticycle’s bike with Johnny Turbo building and riding it qualified number 1, and 2 rounds into the event he is still in the mix and looks to be the bike to beat.
As always we would like to thanks all our Sponsors. Be sure to keep up on the Playthings Gokart Racing Team
