The MIRock Superbike Series takes a new turn this weekend when Rockingham Dragway plays host to the Adams Performance Sportsman Summer Sizzler, an event that will feature some of the most exotic bikes on the planet.
The first all-sportsman event in the Mickey Thompson Performance-sponsored outlaw motorcycle series will feature bikes capable of covering the track’s eighth-mile course in 4.60 seconds at speeds exceeding 150 miles per hour including the Suzuki of of multiple-time series champion Jeremy Teasley of Columbus, Ohio.
Teasley, who has won 14 times in other categories at The Rock, will try to add a 15th race victory and first in the Louis Concrete 4.60 class. He is coming off a June 2 win in the Fast by Gast Summer Nationals at Maryland International Raceway.
In addition, champions will be crowned in the FBR Shop 5.60 class, in Nitrous Express Pro ET, Brock’s Performance Street ET, Track King/APE Top Sportsman and in the Crazy 8s class. There also will be a full slate of grudge races during the day that will morph into the track’s popular Afterdark Underground event on Saturday night.
The event will include the track’s weekly all-comers test-and-tune from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Gates open at 8 a.m. Saturday for a full day of qualifying with eliminations beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Adult tickets are $20 daily with discounts for multiple days. Two day passes are $35 and three-day tickets ar $45. Children 6-11 are $5 daily and those under six are admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Parking, as always, is free in Rockingham’s main lot although VIP parking also will be available inside the track for $10 daily.
