Maryland International Raceway owner and MIROCK official, Royce Miller, is taking a leave of absence to recover from open heart surgery. Cycledrag.com would like to wish Miller a speedy recovery.
Miller’s son Jason wrote, “Well they are finished with dad, and the surgeon said everything went great! The surgery took a little longer because they cut less bone open and created a smaller opening to speed up dad’s recovery time. Dr Boyce is such a great surgeon and such a nice guy. Dad really will benefit from a faster recovery time. His mind is always working and having a body that can’t keep up would only dissapoint him. Thanks for everyone’s concern, prayers, and support. We love you all, and it’s so great to see how big our racing family really is.”
Prior to the surgery Miller said “I will be taking a short leave of absence for about a month from the day to day operations at MIR. I have known for several years that I have a deteriorating aortic heart valve. However, I was caught by surprise in January when doctors told me that I needed to have the surgery within the next two months. The valve was abnormal from birth and is now leaking worse, causing the heart to work too hard. So on Tuesday, February 19th, I will have open heart surgery to replace the valve. During my absence should you have any needs, please contact Jason, Chris or Crystal and they will take care of whatever is needed. After my valve job, I should be good for another 100,000 miles and I plan on being back in the full swing of things as soon as I can.”
Royce: Been there done that. Good luck buddy. Just make sure you do the therapy after the surgery and believe me you will be good to go. Any questions feel free to e-mail me and I can fill you inn. Blessings Your Way.
