July 29th, 2017 will serve as a footnote in the history of motorcycle racing. At the IDBL WPGC Bike Fest from Maryland International Raceway, Top Fuel legend Larry “Spiderman” McBride and Dave Vantine re-wrote the record book with the quickest side-by-side run in the history of the sport. McBride clocked a jaw-dropping 5.74 to Vantine’s 5.81. McBride’s 5.74 marks the second quickest motorcycle pass ever and the best on American soil. It stands behind only Peter Sevenson of Sweeden’s 5.70 from five years ago.
The run marked only the second side-by-side five second pass in the history of the sport. McBride and Vantine also ran a side-by-side five at MDIR in 2014.
Astoundingly the record blast came right off the trailer. Neither competitor had any test laps prior to the run.
A big congratulations to both teams.
For all their continued support with this new machine, McBride thanked his primary sponsors; Trim-Tex Drywall Products, Pingel Enterprise, Drag Specialties-Parts Unlimited, Final Swipe Merchant Services, Web-Cam, APE and Kibblewhite – Precision Machine.
