Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Ed Krawiec heads into a short break in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule holding the Pro Stock Motorcycle points lead after winning one round in Sunday eliminations at the Lucas Oil Route 66 NHRA Nationals. Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines is third in points.
“We took a bit of a gamble and tried some new engine components this weekend, and we did well in qualifying, but we know we can do better,” said Hines, the defending Pro Stock Motorcycle champion. “We are going to do some track testing before the next race at Denver and see what we can learn.”
After six of 16 events on the 2015 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle schedule, Krawiec leads the series with 452 points. Hector Arana Jr., who won at Joliet, is second with 436 points. Hines is third with 404 points, followed by Karen Stoffer with 382 points and Angelle Sampey with 336 points.
Hines qualified second at Joliet and Krawiec qualified fourth with both riders winning their first-round pairings on Sunday before both losing in round two.
“We didn’t change too much between rounds, so were surprised by the drop in performance,” said Hines. “We’ll be looking to find the answers in the next two weeks.”
The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines drag team returns to action July 24-26 at the 36th annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo.
