The International Drag Bike League (IDBL) announced today a rule revision in the Pro Street category for the 2017 season. The adjustment allows riders to use any DOT approved front or rear tire. Previously only two rear tires were approved for use.
“This is a direct result of listening to what the racers wanted,” IDBL president Jack Korpela said. “Many of our teams wanted to continue running the no-longer-produced Michelin Power One until their inventory runs out. One problem with that tire is the price has skyrocketed due to lack of supply. We also have a number of teams who want a newer, more affordable tire like the recently released Michelin RS. Opening it up to any DOT tire gives teams the freedom to experiment with new combinations. This is a great class and every team is important no matter what their budget or tire preference is.”
The five-race IDBL Pro Street championship chase begins April 22-23 from Maryland International Raceway. The IDBL will once again hold its $10,000-to-win Pro Street Battle Royale at the DME Fall Nationals, Oct. 6-8, also from MDIR. The season will conclude at Rockingham Dragway Nov. 3-5. “We have an outstanding class and guaranteed payouts. I invite all Pro Street racers to come join us for what is sure to be an exciting championship chase,” Korpela said.

These guys should not complain, at least they don’t have to deal with MT tires, try spending $500 per tire for one run. I know we went through 6 tires at the Fall MANCUP event in SGMP.
