As a rider, Chip Ellis has achieved a great deal in the world of motorcycle drag racing.
Ellis has won championships and events on a turbo Funny Bike and numerous no-bar sport bikes. However, aside from a rare appearance in the MIROCK series this past summer, where Ellis won Real Street, Ellis has been on a hiatus from competition. The six-time NHRA event winner has been working behind the scenes at Vance and Hines Motorsports.
In 2011 Ellis will return to competition in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class aboard a Harry Lartigue-owned, Vance and Hines-powered Buell entry.
“I’m really looking forward to it. I know the Buell well and I have achieved the best results of my career on it,” said Ellis, who formerly held the NHRA PSM elapsed time record on a Buell.
The team plans to attend all 16 NHRA PSM events, starting with the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. in March.
