Does a race team ever really rest? According to Janette Thorney, owner and rider of Dream Chasin’ Racing, “NO, but the team did enjoy a little bit of down time during the month of July to take care of some business, a little r & r for us and a lot of PR for the team and now we are ready to get back on the road to race.”
“Although the team has been hanging close to home this month they have been very busy! During July, the team attended the Hollister California Rally. We displayed the drag bike for the WMDRA in anticipation of the Sturgis Rally and the 2nd Annual WMDRA Amsoil Nitro Nationals presented by Screamin’ Eagle. We were interviewed by two radio shows, Heels on Wheels presented by Performance Motorsports Network.com and with “Biker Bob” out of a San Francisco station. And I guess we’re now TV stars as we appeared on TV with the local news channel in Sacramento (Good Day Sacramento). Then if was back to business as we headed out to the Sacramento Raceway for a test session to make one pass on the newly machined clutch.”
Thornley goes on to say, “Probably the most memorable time of July was our appearance at the Hollister Rally. I met two people (and a K-9) that will now have significance to my race program. First, there was Matilda, a young girl (4 or 5 years old) that came to the rally with her family and just touched my heart. She sat on the motorcycle, took a few pictures and we chatted– so I decided to name the bike after her.”
“Just a few hours later, I met Kris and Tahoe (a retired K-9). Kris is one of many dedicated individuals that support American’s Forgotten Hero’s organization and Tribute vehicle. They told me about the invaluable service, dedication and sacrifices of our four-legged heroes, I can’t wait to see them again!”
Today Dream Chaser Racin’ team is in Sturgis South Dakota for the 73rd Annual Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally hoping to enjoy some of the Blackhills beauty and to race in the 2nd Annual WMDRA AMSOIL Sturgis Nationals Drag Race to be held August 6 and 7. “I’m excited for my first race with the Western Motorcycle Drag Racing Association” says Thornley “ they have done a great job promoting this race and we are thankful for the sponsors WMDRA has brought to Sturgis.”
