Team Liberty Victory Magnum riders Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey will be racing at their new home track this weekend. The newly built Team Liberty Racing shop is located in Cordele, Georgia and is only three hours away from this weekend’s 37th annual NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway.
Atlanta Dragway is a notable track for team owner Cory Reed because this event last year was the location of his first raceday in Pro Stock Motorcycle competition after he qualified in the No. 14 position.
“Atlanta is pretty cool because I qualified for my first Pro Stock race there and my dad was there to be there to see it,” Reed said. “The track can be tricky but I think I’ve been on a roll since the end of last year. Things have been really clicking for our new team and I’m looking forward to doing well there this year.”
Coming off her 400th career win in Charlotte last weekend, Sampey has an extensive history at this track and is hoping to continue her reign at Atlanta Dragway.
“It’s our home track for the team,” Sampey said. “We’ll have a lot of friends and family at this race. Atlanta is probably one of the tracks I remember the most throughout my years racing because it’s where I started my training before I started racing Pro Stock Motorcycle. I rode an 8.90 bike and we did a Pro Start race; it’s kind of where it all started. It’s a full circle thing.”
Qualifying for the 37th annual NHRA Southern Nationals will be held on Friday, May 5th, at 4:15 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. Two more sessions will be on Saturday, May 6th, at 1:15 and 3:45 p.m. Eliminations begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 7th.
