The year 2025 marks a significant milestone as the MIROCK/IDBL/XDA legacy celebrates its 25th anniversary, and fans can look forward to a historic Homecoming with the return of the iconic Rockingham Dragway.
Founded by brothers Jason and Chris Miller in 2001, the MIROCK Superbike Series laid the foundation for what has now become the powerhouse that is the XDA. From its evolution into the IDBL in 2015 to its rebirth as XDA in 2018, the series has grown into a juggernaut of East Coast Motorcycle Drag Racing. But for the first time since 2014, “The Rock” is making its long-awaited return to the XDA circuit—and it’s never looked better.
In a pivotal moment for the sport, the track was purchased in 2022 by motorsport devotees Dan VanHorn and Al Gennarelli. With a passion for preserving the sport’s heritage, they rolled up their sleeves and undertook a massive restoration project, injecting new life into the storied track. From resurfaced racing lanes and pit areas to cutting-edge timing systems and enhanced fan amenities, the Rockingham of 2025 will shine brighter than ever.
“Rockingham Dragway has a rich history and restoring it to its former glory has been a labor of love for us,” said Dan VanHorn, co-owner of Rockingham Dragway. “We’re incredibly proud of the upgrades we’ve made, and we can’t wait to showcase the facility to the XDA community. This track has hosted countless memorable races over the years, and we’re excited to welcome the next generation of XDA racers and fans back for an unforgettable homecoming in 2025.”
“We’re thrilled to be back at Rockingham,” said XDA co-founder and owner Jason Miller. “Dan VanHorn and Al Gennarelli have truly outdone themselves. Their relentless work on improving the facility ensures that we can offer our racers and fans the same top-notch experience they’ve come to expect at Maryland International Raceway and Virginia Motorsports Park.”
Miller added with a note of nostalgia: “Personally, Rockingham holds a special place in my heart. I won more motorcycle races there in the 2000s, alongside Steve Earwood, than at any other track. It’s great to be coming back for what feels like a true homecoming.”
As XDA enters its 25th season, the series will span six events across three legendary tracks: Maryland International Raceway, Virginia Motorsports Park, and Rockingham Dragway. The class structure will offer something for everyone, from adrenaline-pumping professional categories, grass roots sportsman categories to fan-favorite grudge racing!
Prepare for a celebration that merges the past, present, and future of motorcycle drag racing in a way that only XDA can deliver. The return of Rockingham Dragway is more than just an event—it’s the rekindling of a legacy.
“Let’s make this Homecoming at The Rock one to remember,” Miller exclaimed. “As Fabian would say – “We’re going to put on one hell of a show!” So, bring your friends and family, and let’s create unforgettable memories together.”
