Shockwaves ran through the motorcycle drag racing universe when the world’s second quickest and fastest motorcycle was listed for sale by talented pilot “Fast” Filippos Papafilippou of Athens, Greece.
Papafilippou purchased the motorcycle from multi-time champion Ian King, progressed at an incredibly rapid rate, taking the motorcycle to an all time best almost immediately.
In September of 2018 Cycledrag was at Santa Pod Raceway in England to witness Fil drop jaws with a 5.66, then trailing only Larry “Spiderman” McBride’s world record of 5.61. McBride has since pushed the bar to a 5.50, but Papafilippou’s 5.66 still ranks him No.2 on the all-time quickest list.
Papafilippou, father of five, says it’s family commitments that are causing him to walk away.
“My oldest daughter just passed university. Two more are following soon,” Papafilippou said. “I won’t be able to race for the next 3-4 years. Too many obligations. They get older.”

Now the question is where will the motorcycle end up? This motorcycle would be a huge addition to any race series worldwide. Who will have the funds and teh commitment to the sport to make it theirs?
