The Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series is primed for its biggest season yet in its 11-season history, with large car counts, increased event and championship payouts, and fierce competition across the series’ professional, sportsman, and Jr. Dragster categories. It all starts this weekend at the Summit Racing Equipment East Coast Nationals presented by FuelTech, April 2-5, at GALOT Motorsports Park. It’s the first of eight national events for the drivers and teams competing for nearly $200,000 in PDRA world championship prizes.
“With support from partners like Red Line Oil, we increased our championship payouts by more than $100,000,” said Tyler Crossnoe, series director, PDRA. “The racers in our headlining Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous and WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive will get to compete for a $25,000 championship bonus this season. Those championship payouts combined with $10,000-to-win and $25,000 per event in total payouts for both of our Pro Modified classes have attracted some of the world’s best Pro Mod drivers and teams. We’re expecting big turnouts for the East Coast Nationals, and we could see record fields come together by the time the 16-car fields are set on Friday night.”

Drag 965 Pro Extreme Motorcycle will add a two-wheeled element to the East Coast Nationals lineup. Brunson Grothus is the reigning world champion, joining past world champions like Chris Garner-Jones and Eric McKinney, who’ve both won multiple titles.
Along with the PDRA’s professional classes, the East Coast Nationals will feature high-stakes sportsman racing in MagnaFuel Elite Top Sportsman presented by PAR Racing Engines, Laris Motorsports Insurance Elite Top Dragster presented by Greenbrier Excavating & Paving, MagnaFuel Top Sportsman, and Laris Motorsports Insurance Top Dragster presented by Derrick Wolfe Trucking. Local bracket racers will also take part in the event through Edelbrock Bracket Bash presented by COMP Cams.

The PDRA’s Jr. Dragster classes, home to the rising stars of the all-eighth-mile drag racing series, will fight for East Coast Nationals victories in PDRA Pro Jr. Dragster presented by Philadelphia Racing Products and Classic Graphix Top Jr. Dragster presented by Philadelphia Racing Products.
East Coast Nationals participants will have the opportunity to test on Wednesday afternoon, as well as Thursday morning. Due to high anticipated car counts, qualifying will kick off early with Top Sportsman on Thursday at 1:45 p.m. and Top Dragster at 3 p.m. Pros will start with Pro Nitrous at 4:45 p.m. Friday’s qualifying schedule starts with the Jr. Dragster classes at 9 a.m. Pro sessions are set for 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Jr. Dragsters will get a final qualifying session Saturday morning at 9 a.m., followed by sportsman eliminations. Pro eliminations will begin at noon.
