It s the richest price in the history of sportsman motorcycle drag racing – $50,000 to the winner of a 128 competitor field, slit evenly between box and no box.
The race initially called for a 64-bike field, but after filling all the $500 spots in less than four hours, NHDRO’s Brian Welch opened it up to 128 motorcycles with the winner taking $50,000 and the runner-up collecting $12,000, not withstanding any negotiated splits.
Much like many motorsports events in 2020, the race was postponed from earlier in the year. NHDRO said in the pre-race meeting the $50-to-win main event would take priority on Saturday Aug. 1. The crew knew they would have to battle rain showers all day.
