The Best Party Anywhere® will launch the 84th annual Sturgis Rally with a party unlike any other on earth. The annual Buffalo Chip Official Sturgis Rally Kickoff Party™ will start the rally with a day packed with fun events Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. Passes are available now at BuffaloChip.com.
To help the evening’s headliner, Bad Wolves, kick off the rally in style, the Buffalo Chip will host the Support Bikers Moto Meetup and World Record Poker Run Reunion, Drifter Cross Race Trials, the Florida Full Throttle Magazine Official Rally Kickoff bike show, a parade into the amphitheater, a Monster Energy wall smash stunt in honor of Sturgis Rally founder Pappy Hoel’s original fire wall smash stunt and so much more. In addition, the Chip has once again allied with the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce on the Sturgis Battle of the Bands, with the competition’s winner receiving an opening set at the Buffalo Chip the night of Aug. 2.
“How do you kick off the world’s largest music and motorcycle party? Well, you throw a really big party to celebrate and ride that wave for nine more days, of course,” said Sturgis Buffalo Chip President Rod Woodruff. “Over the past few years this kickoff party has become a must-attend event for Sturgis Rally visitors because there’s just so many fun things to do and see.”
The Official Sturgis Rally Kickoff Party begins with a bang with the Support Bikers Moto Meetup at the Big Engine Bar at 4 p.m. Parade lineup begins at 5 p.m., and the first 100 to reserve their spot will enjoy the Bad Wolves concert from their bike in the amphitheater. Once inside the amphitheater, the festivities will continue with a Monster Wall Smash, Star-Spangled Banner, live entertainment on the main stage from the winner of the Sturgis Battle of the Bands, Bad Wolves, and the International Bikini Team.
Free to attend and open to all, motorcycle content creators The Badgers host their 4th annual Support Bikers Moto Meetup at the Big Engine Bar starting at 4 p.m. Guests can enjoy a cold one and rub elbows with The Badgers and other participants from the Guinness World Record Poker Run that ended at the Chip in 2021. The meetup will feature a celebration for those who took part in the historic event.
Drifter Cross brings the world of stunt riding and racing together. This event is a timed format obstacle course where racers will use their unique skills against the clock. Guests will have the opportunity to see these gifted riders test run the course and showcase their talents ahead of the Kickoff Party Parade.
The first 100 people to reserve their spot to ride in the parade will be able to ride into the amphitheater and park their bike for the Bad Wolves concert. To reserve a spot, riders need a Buffalo Chip campground admission pass that includes Aug. 2. Reservation holders must email their reservation number and their number of bikes to info@buffalochip.com. Riders may pick up their parade sticker on the day of the event at the Support Bikers Moto Meetup at the Big Engine Bar.
Buffalo Chip Executive VP and Executive Fun Expert Daymon Woodruff, alongside Big Joe Mielke, will blast through a wall of Monster Energy on mini bikes for the wildly entertaining climax to the Sturgis Rally Kickoff parade. AND attendees are welcome to drink up the fizzy remnants, for free.
One lucky band will score the set on the Buffalo Chip Main Stage opening for one of the Rally’s biggest concerts, Bad Wolves. The 2nd annual Sturgis Battle of the Bands hosted by the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce culminates with a live competition on June 1 at Harley-Davidson Rally Point in Sturgis, and the winner of the battle will get the gig at the Buffalo Chip Aug. 2 along with other amazing prizes. Bands can learn more and enter on the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce Website.
