With momentum on the strength of three consecutive semi-final appearances, Team Arana looks to continue their progress as the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series heads to Norwalk, Ohio for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.
The annual visit to Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park marks the sixth round of the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championship and the duo of Hector Arana Sr. and Hector Arana Jr. are looking to earn their first “Wally” of the year.
Arana Jr. came close to winning at Norwalk last season after reaching the semi-final round and has been knocking on the door for his first win of 2018. Armed with the fastest bike on the tour, Arana Jr. knows it’s only a matter of time before the Lucas Oil Racing TV EBR gets back into victory lane. “Last year we had top speed of the event and got to the semi, which is something we’ve been doing a lot lately,” said Arana Jr. “While it’s nice to bank solid points, we’re ready to go four rounds on Sunday.”
For Arana Sr., the goal is to build on the progress that was made at the last round in Virginia. “We made a lot of improvements at the last race in challenging conditions and our last run was actually our best,” said Arana Sr. “We know what the Lucas Oil EBR is capable of and we’re closer to having both Team Arana bikes running the way everyone is accustomed to. Hopefully we’ll be able to continue to head in the right direction when we get to Norwalk.”
The Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals begin on Friday, June 22nd with two days of qualifying and final eliminations on Sunday, June 24th. For tickets and information, visit NHRA.com or www.virginiamotorsports.com and catch all of the action on Fox Sports 1.
