One of the last great milestones in motorcycle drag racing is the race to get into the five second zone, which is hotly contested amongst the many turbo charged Suzuki HAYABUSA, Suzuki GS, Kawasaki KZ, Kawasaki ZX-11 and more. Only Top Fuel Nitro Motorcycles have been in the fives but a recent surge in wheelie bar turbo bikes, aka Funny Bikes, and a new world record of 6.19 has many thinking the barrier will soon be broken. In this video we catch up with Turbo drag bike legend Steve Rice to see his revamped ZX-11, ZZR1100 and get his take on his long it will be until we see a turbo bike dive into the five second zone. Rice compares his Funny Bike to the new state of the art builds we are seeing. The new bikes have EFI lots of electronics and more advantageous transmissions. Steve’s bike is more mechanical and requires more driver input.
