NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle v-twin loyalist “Flyin” Ryan Oehler knows the competition will be tougher than ever this year in his class.
He’s up for the challenge.
The hardworking heating-and-cooling business owner from Illinois isn’t one to get caught on his back foot. Oehler has made several improvements to his team to keep pace with the competition, which includes securing new sponsor, El Bandido Tequila.
Along with the marketing efforts, Oehler’s father “Bad” Brad Oehler continues to work tirelessly on the team’s engine program, which consists of the Gen 1, and new this year Gen 2 Buell. Oehler is very optimistic about the more modern power plant.
Along with his skilled team of Scott Hamilton and Josh Ace, Oehler has brought back on former Pro Mod champion Brad McCoy to assist with the tuning duties.
Oehler was the first Pro Stock Motorcycle racer to test in 2023, as he worked on his 60-foot and 330 times at the short-but-effective Showtime Drag Strip near his vacation home in Clearwater, Fla in early January.
It’s also the same track where Oheler operates his Tampa Bay Race Rental program where anyone can rent one of his new Ford Mustangs with drag radial tires and have some fun making passes.
The 2021 Las Vegas Wally winner knew time was more precious than ever this season. Extensive testing is imperative.
Oehler then headed up to Gainesville, Fla a couple weeks later to join many other PSM racers at a pre-season NHRA test. This is where Oehler shared some of his thoughts and goals heading into the 2023 campaign. Checkout the interview below.
