Legendary drag racing executive, visionary and pioneer Ted Jones was introduced as a 2019 Legend of Thunder Valley honoree at the NHRA National Event at Bristol Dragway. Jones served as manager of Bristol Dragway and was the president of the IHRA for years. He is credited with creating Pro Mod and Mountain Motor Pro Stock. He has an important place in motorcycle drag racing history as he was heavily involved in the 1989 IHRA Motorcycle Drag Racing championship at Atco Dragway. It was the race that led to the birth of AMA Prostar.
Not only was Jones inducted into the Hall of Fame, he was able to serve as crew chief for his granddaughter, 10-year-old Shelby Vining who had the coveted opportunity to make passes in front of the jam-packed crowd.
