This week the drag racing community lost a great man, Mike Cherry has either been Drag Racing Bikes himself or helping and supporting his sons Ryan and Herdon along with his grandson’s Johnny and Dawson with their Jr Dragsters Drag Racing. One of our last conversations was about his grandson Johnny at the age of 14 just started learning how to drag race a full size dragbike and how good he was on the tree and how he was catching on with the shifts going down the track. If you ever had the pleasure to meet him you will never forget him.
He loved his family and friends and also would give the shirt off his back to a complete stranger. He and his son Ryan has made passes at the Man Cup on his Jr Dragster and even set a record on it. Mike was one of the best men I have ever known and it was a honor to call him my friend. This man supported all racing from Mini Sportsman, Late model to Dirt Track but he always came back to Motorcycle Drag Racing. God Speed Mike Cherry we will see you again one day and we can share more awesome stories. If everyone will please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
