After nearly a decade hiatus as a rider, multi-time champion Doug Vancil looked as if he never took a break, motoring his brand new, Vance & Hines / Tucker Rocky Nitro Harley to a debut victory at the NHRA Lucas Oil Winternationals from Pomona, Calif.
Vancil displayed remarkable consistency with several runs in the low 6.30s.
The star-studded operation features tuning by accomplished rider and builder Mike Romine and support and guidance from one of the greatest dragbike racers and visionaries of all-time, Terry Vance of Vance of Vance & Hines.
The team was very pleased with its debut. Both Vancil and Vance said they look forward to growing the class, giving motorcycles even more opportunities in the world’s premier drag racing sanctioning body.
