Janette Thornley is familiar with the term “Beating the Odds” as throughout her life she’s faced many challenges. One of those has been competing in a sport dominated by male competitors. Thornley has beaten those odds and has won a Pro-Fuel Championship no less than four times. However, Thornley understands her new goal of racing top fuel Harley is very lofty. Pro Fuel and Top Fuel are two different animals in both speed and in operational aspects.

This is why Thornley selected two-time AMRA Nitro Funny Bike Champion Rich Vreeland to assist her in this effort. The Straightline Strategy Group who represents Thornley within a strategic marketing alliance is proud to announce that Thornley and Vreeland are set to participate at all 2020 NHRA events in the Mickey Thompson Tires Top Fuel Harley class.
The two husband and wife teams, Janette and crew chief Buddy, along with Rich and Patti Vreeland, are excited about the 2020 season. The fella’s have had a 20 year relationship on and off the track as competitors and friends. The opportunity forRich to serve as mentor and coach to Janette is priceless. While Janette obtains her seat time during test sessions, Rich will kick off the season as the team pilot of the Top Fuel Harley.
“After nearly 8 years of riding a nitro powered motorcycle, nothing can prepare you for a Top Fuel Harley except seat time. I have nothing but respect for these machines and those who ride them,” said Thornley. “My goal is to be a competitive racer and I know that will take tenacity, strength and perseverance of my faith for this to happen” she continued.
Vreeland brings many assets to the partnership with a most impressive resume. From a racing standpoint his ability to tune and ride are a strong one – two punch. As a co-owner of Vreeland’s Harley-Davidson, in Bloomsburg PA, for the past 29 years, Rich is highly engaged in community activities and heads Starting Line Ministries, always guiding others of all ages.
“I am blessed to have this opportunity to ride a proven motorcycle that will be a contender from the first race” commented Rich Vreeland.
The team is scheduled to debut their top fuel Harley this year at the 2019 Man Cup World Finals held at South Georgia Motorsports Park outside Valdosta Ga., Nov 21-24, 2019.
