For Edge Mallis, this latest record-breaking effort marked a case of self improvement.
“It was my own record that I set last Summer which I broke,” he explained.
“I am glad to be moving forward with the bike’s progress.
“We were trying out a complete new engine/clutch and supercharger set-up, so it was a nice bonus to know that we are heading in the right direction as we prepare for the NDRC sportsman series grand final at The Bend next month.
“The Sunset Nationals has always been a great event for me when it comes to breaking records, with the weather at this time of year awesome for making power.
“We have lots of exciting racing ahead – we plan to do every round of the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship and got a great head start with the win at the season-opening Desert Nationals at Alice Springs.
“Only two rounds in I am leading the John Storm Memorial trophy points count so far, so I am hoping I can keep that momentum going in what is my 44th year of racing.
“I must say thank you as always to ANDRA for listening to the racers and putting on this series.
“I also want to recognise Blazecraft (Blaze Hansen – the head tuner and builder of Edge’s bike), my crew for the weekend which were my grandson Max Theocharides as well as Simon Allinson, Lectron Australia for sponsoring the Competition Bike bracket for this season, and my personal sponsors, CIM Wellness Centre Armadale Victoria and Brocks Performance USA.”
