The National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) has today announced a continuation of their exclusive partnership with Australia’s home of sport, the Seven Network.
In an exciting broadcast and promotional partnership, live and free drag racing from all 6 headline rounds of the NDRC will be delivered to Australian audiences via Seven’s digital streaming platform, 7plus.
There will also be a raft of video on demand products available on the NDRC 7plus channel, including highlight clips and other features. In addition, Seven will be providing comprehensive event coverage through 7Sport Facebook, extending the sport’s exposure to the hundreds of thousands of Australians who follow that channel.
The original agreement with Seven allowed the broadcaster to extend for one year, but in a statement of commitment to Australian drag racing, Australia’s leading motorsport network has secured a two year partnership with the NDRC.
“We’ve delivered over 20 high-quality live broadcast events over the Australian Top Fuel Championship and the first season of the NDRC. That’s given Seven the confidence to extend our partnership for a year as per our original agreement and secure an additional year on top,” NDRC Co-Promoter and Head of Broadcast, Nathan Prendergast, said.
“This two year partnership is fantastic for Australian drag racing and will give the sport the exposure it deserves. This allows racer teams to talk to current and potential sponsors with certainty.”
The 7plus live broadcast events include:
- Aeroflow Spring Nationals – Dragway at the Bend
- New Year Nitro – Willowbank Raceway
- Westernationals – Motorplex
- The Riverbend Nationals – Dragway at the Bend
- The Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs – Sydney Dragway
- The Gulf Western Oil Winternationals – Willowbank Raceway
“The Seven network have plenty of sports knocking down their door. This two year partnership is the result of excellent coverage of great racing over the last three years,” NDRC Promoter, Andy Lopez, said.
“I’d like to say thanks to Top Fuel for setting the standard through the Australian Top Fuel Championship that made Seven want drag racing on their channels, and that benefit has rippled across the sport. That was followed by an excellent first season of the NDRC and we’ve got an opportunity over the next two years to cement our home on Seven.
“Let’s take nothing for granted here. Being on the Seven network is a privilege and hard earned, it is not an automatic entitlement. Seven has stuck with us after a season heavily disrupted by weather and other factors that meant our calendar changed a number of times.
“With continued positivity and commitment from the entire racer group and fans, we will be able to grow our partnership with Seven into the future.’
Under the guiding principle of ‘One Way, Forward,’ the NDRC continues to represent a new era for drag racing in Australia with events starring Top Fuel, Nitro Funny Car, Top Doorslammer, Top Fuel Motorcycle, Pro Alcohol, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Bike, Pro Mod, and the Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship across Australia.
In addition to the six headline events listed above featuring Top Fuel and Nitro Funny Car, the coming season sees a new more sustainable approach where various Group One categories will race at a number of track-based events, with Top Doorslammer, Top Fuel Motorcycle and the new NDRC Pro Drag Racing events featuring Pro Alcohol, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, and Pro Mod will be headlining at stand-alone events.
The Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship will run at both NDRC headline events and standalone shows at regional tracks.
