Seven Top Fuel Dragsters, 11 Top Fuel Motorcycles and 12 Top Doorslammers: next weekend’s MAC Track Westernationals at the Perth Motorplex is going to be a top shelf bonanza for drag racing fans.
As the latest round of both the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship and the Australian Drag Racing Championships (ADRC) for Top Doorslammer and Top Fuel Motorcycle, it is no wonder the March 4/5 event has attracted such large fields of racers.
“The line-up for this event is just absolutely phenomenal,” Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship and ADRC promoter, Andy Lopez, said.
“To have seven Top Fuel Dragsters taking to the track is amazing in itself, but add to that an absolutely incredible line-up of 12 Top Doorslammers and 11 Top Fuel Motorcycles, and there is just no doubting that this is going to be an epic show from start to finish.
“With our all-run format, race fans are going to be able to see all of these brilliant racing machines in action twice on Saturday for qualifying, and three times on Sunday for racing. And when they aren’t on-track, they are going to have the Nitro Max racers and more than 200 sportsman competitors – who will be fighting it out in what is the Grand Final for their national series – ensuring that the on-track action is non-stop.
“And then of course there is the fact that drag racing gives an up close and personal experience like none other in the pits, with a level of accessibility not seen in any other form of motorsport allowing fans to check out the cars and chat to the drivers.”
With three rounds remaining for both the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship and Australian Drag Racing Championships, championship honours are well and truly on the minds of many of the Top Fuel, Top Doorslammer and Top Fuel Motorcycle racers heading to the Westernationals.
“We have seen some great racing across the season and there is plenty more to come, and as we move past the halfway point of the title chase, the intensity is rising and rising,” Lopez said.
“The battles at the top of the points are very close, so you can expect that none of our racers will be leaving anything on the table throughout the weekend – every run and every point is vital when you are chasing these titles.
“We can’t wait to put on another epic show for the fans of WA, in what is expected to be the only trip to the Perth Motorplex for Top Fuel in 2023, so I encourage everyone to get in quick and secure their tickets for what is set to be a massive two days and nights of racing at the ‘Plex.”
The MAC Track Westernationals will be held on Saturday March 4 and Sunday March 5. Gates open 11.00am on both Saturday March 4 and Sunday March 5, with the ‘main show’ on-track from 5.30pm to 10.00pm (all times approximate).
