This weekend’s AHDRA race at Gainesville Raceway, back where it all began, marks a special milestone for Cycledrag. It’s exactly 20 years since I announced my first drag race.
AMA Pro Star President “Scooter” Keith Kizer agreed to take a shot on a nervous but ambitious University of Florida freshman broadcast journalist student and mega drag bike fan as a backup announcer.
The years have flown by and I never imagined I’d still be working races two decades later. More importantly I never envisioned the incredibly special, meaningful and long-lasting friendships and memories I would collect – and to me, that’s been the greatest gift from this journey.
