NHDRO likes to go Big—racing at Big Tracks, getting Big Media attention, awarding Big Checks, and singling out one class for Big Money at nearly every event. So with the Midwest’s largest motorcycle drag racing series coming to their smallest track, it only makes sense that they feature the class that usually only runs to half-track.
NHDRO has boosted the Quicktime Motorsports/Lindeman Performance Pro Ultra 4.60 eighth mile class purse to $5000-to-win as the CC Powersports Mid Season Nationals throw down at Louisville, Kentucky’s eighth mile Ohio Valley Dragway on July 20-22. That’s $5000-to-win for half the work—what’s not to like?
Gateway winner Dan McCarten, defending Louisville winner Les Stimac, Ohio winner Jimmy Muntain, class sponsor Jeff Lindeman, second generation racer Brevin Bond—even East Coast stud Boo Brown has declared his intention to race at The ‘Ville.
Because if you have a 4.60 bike, why wouldn’t you race in the richest 4.60 race ever? It’s 5 grand man, it’s 4.60, it’s your birthright—come and get it! It’s not about the money…it’s about the MONEY!
This time last year, Kentucky racer John “Spooky” Markham was sweeping the Penske Racing Shocks Street Fighter table. Markham has been more silent than spooky this year, but the Louisville race might be the one that turns it around for him. The Street Fighter eighth mile index is 6.15.
M2.Shocks Crazy 8s runs at a 5.70 index and Millennium Trailers Super Comp clips it at 5.60 on the eighth. Multi-class racer Ron “Ju-Jitsu” Arnold won NHDRO’s last Big Money race—the one-off combined Crazy Comp at Gateway. He’ll be running both classes at the ‘Ville, facing competition such as Jeremy Teasley, Deadly Dustin Lee and Bruce Damewood.
Top Gas studs Kounselor Kenny Schwartz, Bradley Shellhaas, the Wagners, and more will have to get the job done in 5.10 seconds on the eighth.
Many of these racers and more will also pack the staging lanes for MPS Pro ET and Kevin Dennis Insurance Street ET, with separate races on both days. Cameron Teasley, Jeff Hall, Tylan Beckelheimer, Wes Brown, Steady Teddy Thompson, Big Joe Holt, Scott Sheppeard, Ken Selner, Doug Fisher, Tom Klemme, Mike Hall and more will count themselves in that number.
Let’s not forget the pro classes, like the world’s quickest street-legal bikes of McIntosh/Grayson Machine & Fabrication Pro Street. Gateway winner Gaige Herrera and his nitrous-huffing Suzuki Hayabusa might have a slight advantage on the eighth mile versus the 700 horsepower turbo bikes, but the turbo bikes will not back down.
Expect the entire Quicktime Motorsports stable of Rudy Sanzottera, Brad Christian, Chris Klassen, Jake “From State Farm” Henderson, and Willie Santana to exhibit their unique brand of hard work and thug attitude. Former champ Doug Gall, Atlanta winner Frankie Stotz and more will all be putting the power to Ohio Valley’s concrete via their street legal tires.
There’s nothing street-legal about Chris Cutsinger’s Pro Open championship bike. Big tires and big horsepower describe this class, and Cutisnger will be shredding with the likes of Ron Maddox, Brad Messer and more.
Nighttime is the right time for Performance Racing Products Grudge racing, and Louisville has seen some of the best. Will we see a rematch of the Gateway race between Can Man and NHDRO’s own Brian Welch?
Brian and Niki Welch especially thank José and Tina Gonzalez of CC Powersports for their support of NHDRO and their sponsorship of the Louisville Mid Season Nationals.
CC Powersports is one of the Midwest’s largest and oldest continuously operated powersports dealers. Founded in 1964, CC’s 50,000 square foot store in Clarksville, Indiana, and 25,000 square foot store in Louisville sell Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM, Polaris, Indian Motorcycles, Slingshot, Can-Am, Sea-Doo, Spyder Bad Boy, and SSR.
CC Powersports also supports NHDRO racers by bringing VP Fuels and OEM parts to the events. Need anything? Call Tina or José at (812) 948-1621 and have them bring it to you.
“As a multi-line dealership, we support all of your racing and powersports needs,” says Tina. “We look forward to serving you, and hope you have a successful race weekend.”
Brian and Niki and everyone with NHDRO look forward to welcoming you to a Big event on a small track at Ohio Valley Dragway just outside of Louisville.
